To consider whether the press and public should be excluded during the consideration of the following items because it is likely, in view of the nature of the business to be transacted or the nature of the proceedings, that if members of the public were present during the items, there would be disclosure to them of exempt categories of information as prescribed in Part 1 of Schedule 12A of the Local Government Act 1972, and indicated against each item and, in all circumstances of the case, the public interest in maintaining the exemption outweighs the public interest in disclosing the information.

That under Section 100(A)(4) of the Local Government Act 1972, the press and public be excluded from the meeting for the following item of business on the grounds that it involved the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in paragraph 1 of Part 1 of Schedule 12(A) of the Act.

Mayoralty 2016/2017

To determine nominations for the offices of

 

(a)     Mayor; and

(b)     Deputy Mayor

 

of the Borough for 2016/2017 for formal submission to the Annual Meeting of the Council on 19 May 2016.

Minutes:

The Committee considered nominations for the selection of Members of the Council for the Offices of Mayor and Deputy Mayor of the Borough for 2016/2017, and it was

 

RESOLVED: That

 

(1)     Councillor Julia Wakelam be nominated for election as Mayor for 2016/2017;

 

(2)     Councillor Terry Clements be nominated for election as Deputy Mayor for 2016/2017; and

 

(3)     the aforementioned names be formally submitted to the Annual Meeting of the Council on 19 May 2016, subject to them formally consenting to such nominations.

 

(Councillor Margaret Marks briefly left the meeting during the consideration of this item but returned for the vote.)
