That SEBC Councillor Sara Mildmay-White be elected as Chairman of the Joint Officer Appointments Committee for 2015/2016.

Election of Vice-Chairman 2015/2016

That FHDC Councillor David Palmer be elected as Vice-Chairman of the Joint Officer Appointments Committee for 2015/2016.

Apologies for Absence

An apology for absence was received from FHDC Councillor Ruth Bowman.

5.

Exclusion of Press and Public

To consider whether the press and public should be excluded during the consideration of the following items because it is likely, in view of the nature of the business to be transacted or the nature of the proceedings, that if members of the public were present during the items, there would be disclosure to them of exempt categories of information as prescribed in Part 1 of Schedule 12A of the Local Government Act 1972, and indicated against each item and, in all circumstances of the case, the public interest in maintaining the exemption outweighs the public interest in disclosing the information.

Appointment to West Suffolk Director Post (paras 1 and 2)

The Joint Committee is requested to consider the recommended candidate for the post of Director for the West Suffolk councils and subsequently make the appointment.

Minutes:

The Joint Committee considered information which assisted with the decision making process for making the appointment to the Director post for the West Suffolk councils.

 

Following due consideration, the Joint Committee determined that Jill Korwin should be appointed to the Director post.  Agreement was also reached on an alternative choice of candidate should the preferred candidate decide not to accept the appointment.   

 

RESOLVED: That

 

(1)     Jill Korwin be appointed to the post of Director for Forest Heath District and St Edmundsbury Borough Councils; and

 

(2)     in the event of Jill Korwin deciding not to accept the appointment, delegated authority be given to the Head of HR, Legal and Democratic Services, in consultation with the Chairman and Vice-Chairman of the Joint Committee, to appoint the alternative choice of candidate agreed by the Joint Committee.
