Information about Joint Executive (Cabinet) Committee

A Joint Executive (Cabinet) Committee has been established to make decisions that are currently made during the individual Forest Heath District and St Edmundsbury Borough Councils’ Cabinet meetings.  The Joint Committee consists of all Forest Heath and St Edmundsbury Cabinet members.

The Leaders, and their Portfolio Holders, will still have responsibility for their individual designated areas (within Forest Heath and St Edmundsbury areas), and be able to make decisions in line with the rules for portfolio holder decision making. Importantly, the forming of the joint committee does not remove the ability for either Council to still convene their own individual Cabinet meeting if it wished.

The key decision threshold has been increased to £100,000 from the current £50,000 level as a way of not diluting the current key decision thresholds for each Council.  Decisions below the £100,000 level are made by officers or Portfolio Holders, but would still be referred to the Joint Executive (Cabinet) Committee where it is considered they have a significant impact on the local areas or officers / Portfolio Holders do not wish to exercise their delegation.
